FAQ

What do I need to wear? What should I bring?
• Bathing Suit/Water Wear (shorts, rash guards, tank tops)
• Towel
• Sunglasses (with strap)
• Hat
• Sunscreen
• Water

Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes. Although the chances of falling in are small, you must know how to swim in the event you do fall of the board.

Is alcohol allowed at our Private Party?
We always love to have a good time, but for everyone’s safety: alcohol is not allowed before or during any event.  Afterwards is a different story.

What ages can paddleboard?
We welcome all ages from 8 to 108 years old. As long as you are in good health, there is no reason why seniors can not paddle. For children younger than 8 years old, we highly recommend riding with an adult or an instructor. For PaddleFit and Paddle Yoga, we recommend ages 16 and over.

Why is previous instruction from Knee Deep mandatory for rentals and classes? What if I already know how to paddleboard?
At Knee Deep Living, your safety and satisfaction are our top concerns. Because of that, we do require an Introductory Class or Lesson ahead of class time to ensure that everyone is starting with a basic knowledge of how to stand up paddleboard.  For rentals, if you do not wish to receive a full lesson, a brief 15 minute session is required to cover all water safety laws and to make sure you are comfortable on the water. We do not allow “cash and carry” rentals at our shop. If you are an experience paddleboarder, please let us know in advance and we will tailor your lesson so that your time and money are well spent.

Where will we meet?
We have various locations in your area to launch from and you will be notified the location details upon booking a class or lesson. For all group outings, please contact us for best location for your needs.

What about weather and water conditions?
We live in Michigan, so we know situations will arise where weather does not cooperate. As such, we reserve the right to postpone lessons/classes/outings at our discretion due to weather or water conditions we deem unsafe. All lessons and classes will take place as scheduled as long as the weather permits. A light rain will not stop a scheduled lesson, class or outing. However, we will reschedule if there is heavy rain or any kind of lightning in the area. If conditions prevent the lesson/class from taking place, it will be rescheduled for a future convenient time or a credit will be issued for a future lesson/class. For group outings, we will do everything possible to hold your event. In the case we have to cancel your event, you will receive a full refund and will try to reschedule to the best of our ability.

What payments do you accept?
We currently accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and cash at the shop. For lessons, group outings and classes, you are able to pay with credit card by calling us upon booking, or by presenting your card prior to class for payment via our mobile card reader. We highly encourage payment prior to arrival.

I can’t find your address anywhere in Grand Haven, where are you?!
Although we have a store in Sister Lakes, we are a 100% mobile business in the Grand Haven area which makes it convenient for us to share this exciting sport with you!  If you see the Knee Deep van cruising around town, throw us a hang loose sign and follow us to the beach!
